Speaking Graciously
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.
- Melody Beattie
As we enter Thanksgiving week here in the US a saving grace for me is the reminder to embrace gratitude for the little things in life that might otherwise be overlooked. Counting blessings, even if they aren’t all I hoped for them to be in this moment.
I am traveling today to California to be with my daughter, Bailey as she undergoes surgery. She has suffered a great deal over the past years battling the endometriosis while becoming a warrior for other women who are suffering with the disease. We are praying this surgery will give her the much needed relief from the pain she has been suffering pretty nonstop now.
Over the past couple of weeks, I have not only been preparing for this 15-day trek out west, I have also been digging into the nooks and crannies of my home. The goal has been to honor the many items that seem to self-collect and decide what I want to keep and what needs to be passed on.
Through it all, what is truly amazing are the number of things in our homes we can lose sight of on a regular basis. Whether those items gets buried deep in a closet or sitting out in the open and somehow, seem to get overlooked on a daily basis.
I have been working hard to keep the things I love close to my heart, then passing on the rest so they can be loved by others. That is my commitment this Thanksgiving and Holiday season. Thinking regifting when it comes to gifts to be shared.
This week’s video is a culmination of indoor gardening activities and rescuing a few plants from a fate they did not deserve. Ed and I also head outdoors to do an activity around the gathering of bat poop.
Properly known as Guano, our resident bats supply a good amount over the summer months and this incredible fertilizer we decided to spread in on our new sunflower patch blooming in 2026.
Speaking of 2026 its time to start thinking, dreaming, and wishing for those things you want to come to life in the new year which is now about 5 short weeks away.
Something that just dropped onto my wish list is to attend the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival in Seattle in February. I have never been, and I feel it is calling my name in the year ahead…very loudly!
Wishing you time in these days ahead, graciously speaking, for you to feel a calm as you count your blessings. Please keep Bailey in your prayers as we navigate the days ahead.
Plant often and with Love!

P.S. My mantra while cleansing through the blessings of stuff in my house is: “I will let go so that new possibilities can come into my life.”
