Sparkling Persuasion

Over the weekend I was reminded of this great quote from one of my favorite sales coaches from back in the day, Zig Ziglar.

What I loved about Zig was his energy and wit. A born salesman for sure. He had you believing by the end of one of his seminars that you could sell anything to just about anybody.

Funny that this quote crossed my path after persuasion was our topic in my Improv group on Friday. Through a series of fun exercises, we came to the conclusion that persuasion is best won with honesty, trust and, okay, sometimes a killer deal.

But the key is how much enthusiasm you bring to whatever it is you are trying to share with someone else.

That’s the sparkling specific.

I happened to get a really good deal on some plants late last week, which was just the persuasion I needed to take on a project I had been ignoring in one of my garden beds near our pond. Ed was out of town and I had the time, so I went for it, tackling a small space with a deep problem.

In this week’s video, I share that experience with you and how I changed that garden bed from what I now think of as a wandering generality into a sparkling specific.

While my body is still aching this morning from the experience, it was worth every ache and pain.

Just to note: gardening is not for wimps!

In the video I also talk about the idea of a Time Juggle, something I am writing about in my book, Good Dirt. More often than not, we have to juggle our time. The important reminder is to spend more of our time doing things we want to do versus those things we “have” to do.

So, as you look at your calendar for the week ahead, how many Ta-Da’s are in your Time Juggle versus simply a bunch of To-Do’s?
