Pressing Pause

You do not have to be a fire for every mountain blocking your way. Sometimes you only need to rest and be a light. — Morgan Harper Nichols

Have you ever noticed that when we run out of something to say, or can’t figure out how to get from one topic to another instead of saying um or stumbling on words we can tend to say, the word “anyway.” As the word tends to automatically comes out of our mouths as our voices trail off in thought.

A definition for the word anyway is, to continue despite obstacles. To change or steer a conversation in a new direction. To stress that whatever you are talking about is true regardless of other factors. And last but not least to say something additional that could be less formal.

Anyway…

This is coming up this Monday morning because I am ready to change topics and take a break for the next 15 or so days. I believe our society at large doesn’t does not give us permission enough to take a break without requiring we go somewhere. Lately, I’ve been navigating a bit of digital chaos (hello, bots 👋), feeling the weight of the world (and its headlines), and realizing my creative soil is in desperate need of rest and regenerative energy.

The timing is ripe now as my birthday is coming up on the 14th as I wave in the ripe young age of 29 + 39 (yes do the math if you please or just leave it at that). I also have out of town guests headed my way and I am ready to unplug, have some fun, and create where I want to go as the fall season gets closer and closer at hand.

In today’s 4-minute Meditation Moment I talk and walk around the garden with this idea of taking a break. Even if it is just for 4 minutes to quiet your mind. Please come join me.

My garden in the morning light

I am looking forward to taking a break from social media and the news apps on my phone with the plan is to only use it for creative elements like taking photos, making videos, and listening to music and audio books. It will be a tough habit to crack but with the garden and some fun adventures ahead I am ready for the challenge.

With dirt under my nails and joy in my heart I will be back again on August 25th.  Until then do what makes your mind strong and keeps your heart on the right side of happy. And don’t forget to repeat the words, rest and be the light, rest and be the light in whatever way works best for you right now.
