Unplugged Joy

Understanding my impact on the outside gives me my fuel to stay, on the inside. – Jasmine Crockett

I am back! Not that I went anywhere, only in my mind. Over the course of the past several weeks I did that necessary thing to keep ones’ sanity, I unplugged. I stepped away from the chatter of the world, from technology, to be just in my world. And I do believe I recovered some brain cells in the process.

As I was thinking about what I wanted to share with you this morning jumping back into the game the word perfection kept coming to mind. I even was compelled enough to write a poem about this word which I will share in just a moment.

Why perfection? I believe society’s need for making things perfect in our world is an important thought process to let go of in order to completely unplug. Why? Because when you are spending time just being in the moment and taking care of what comes up for you randomly in those moments, perfectionism seems to gratefully fall to the wayside.

Even if you can’t unplug for two weeks each of us has the opportunity to unplug every morning before you plug into the world. To help you with this is todays 4-minute Meditation Moment as I walk with you among the myriad of flowers in my garden. In today’s video I share the release that comes with unplugging and the simplicity of a simple breath.

Straw Flowers from my garden ☺️

Unplugging includes setting down your phone and not tapping into the distractions and interruptions that happen when checking out the news, social media and what others might need from you in the moment.

With that here is my poem which is starting off a 30-Day poetry self-challenge I am doing as I start back up on Instagram. Why? Because I love writing poetry and a challenge is a great way to have it top of mind each morning.

Less than perfection

Sounds pretty good to me

Giving the opportunity

To discover what I couldn’t see

Perfection makes it difficult

To just be

Unwinding from what is expected

From myself

And the entire galaxy

Let it go

Don’t you know

You have nothing to prove

Just sit back and enjoy the show.

With the last week of August ahead and Labor Day weekend in sight enjoy the last days of summer in whatever way brings you your greatest joy. Here’s to being our best in a less than perfect way and feeling the joy without the stress that perfection can bring.
