Present and Accounted For

“When we are present, we see the beauty that is already here.”
Tara Brach

Monday morning rolls around again and here we go!

I am going to admit to you something. I have gotten a bit used to online shopping. For the convenience and lack of hassle, especially if you are looking for something in particular.

Saturday, Ed and I headed to Pearl Street in Boulder to pick up a gift for a new sweet little family member, and it ensued into a shopping trip for this and that, lunch, and spending some special time together.

I came away thinking about how the items I got were truly more of an experience than scrolling, pointing and clicking. And I was much more present in the moment of shopping as a fun verb than a check list item, if you know what I mean.

Sure, I go to the grocery store from time to time and the local garden centers more than I probably should, but I am also lucky that my husband doesn’t mind going to the grocery store so even that I don’t have to put on my to do list very often.

Getting present in the action items we take on can sometimes require a readjustment rather than just checking off the proverbial to do list.

This week’s 4-minute meditation is about readjusting your focus on the present, Feel the Power of Now.

A windsock we got on our shopping excursion makes a nice reminder to stay present.

I hope you enjoy this meditation as I walk with you through my garden.

I also want to suggest that you take the time required to get present so that those to do’s in your life can in fact become your Ta Da’s as we roll through the last week of July accounting for the things that matter most.

Have a peaceful and fully present Monday to get your week off on a good note!
