Paying Attention

"Teach the children... Show them daisies... Give them the fields and the woods... rejoice as they learn to love this green space they live in... Attention is the beginning of devotion."
— Mary Oliver

So many thoughts are going through my mind this morning as I sit here in my garden pondering what to share with you.

First, I hope you had a fun and/or restful Fourth of July weekend, giving you the strength to step into this first full week of July.

Today's words from the beautiful writer Mary Oliver reminded me that what we lovingly pay attention to often becomes what we cherish most.

This past week, I gave a little extra attention to the potted plants around my garden, and they became the inspiration for this week's video.

What has your attention in the week ahead?

What do you want more of? And perhaps, what do you want less of?

From a simple gardening perspective...

If you have a potted plant soaking up the summer sunshine, what could you do this week to make it even more beautiful? Deadhead a few spent blooms. Trim away leaves that are no longer serving the plant. Perhaps replace a plant that has finished blooming with one that's just beginning its season.

And if you don't have a potted plant to pay attention to, what if you created one? In this week's video, I share how I created a brand new one with just $20 and a few minutes of my time. It felt so good!

Remember...

What we give our attention to doesn't have to be glorious in the eyes of the world.

It simply needs to bring us joy.

So, what do you say? Are you ready to put your attention where it matters most to you?

Keep in mind, sometimes the life we're hoping for isn't waiting for us somewhere else.

Perhaps it's simply and quietly waiting for our attention.

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead!

Plant often and with Love!
