I Wonder

Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder.

– E.B. White

Happy Monday,

As we head towards the 4th of July weekend, I have a question for you this morning to get todays Victory Letter rolling…

How often do you wonder?

To give you further clarification of what I mean, let me share the definition in an acronym.

Waking up curious about the world around you.

Ordinary becomes extraordinary by paying closer attention.

Noticing the littlest of special nuances in the day to day.

Daily habits that allow you to enjoy the wonders of the unplanned.

Enough enthusiasm to be surprised by life on a regular basis.

Reminding yourself to look beyond the surface of what’s possible.

I do believe for myself that gardening allows me the grace to wonder without having to wander far from home. And to be outside on an almost continual basis where my own wonder comes to life most especially this time of year.

This week’s video shares how my wonder got me in a little trouble in the garden this past week…but lessons were learned in the process which I believe is the name of the game.

E.B. White whose quote I shared above, wrote the beloved children’s classic Charlotte’s Web. He was known to be a prolific wonderer. Through his story with Charlotte the spider and her wisdom to help Wilbur the pig, he opened up my mind as a child to the possibilities of even the smallest of creatures. I still can’t see spiders in the garden without thinking of Charlotte’s wisdom and compassion.

E.B. was also quoted as saying about his habit for writing:

“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world.”

I can totally relate to that way of thinking in fact it is a balance for me on most days. How about you?

Wishing you the time, patience and love of the unknown to fully let your wonder come out and play as the summer season unfolds into July.

Plant often and with Love!
