A Seat At The Table

Sometimes all we need is a chair, a new perspective, and a place where we feel we belong.

Happy Monday,

As the gardening season here in Colorado begins to wrap up, there are always special and tender moments that seem to happen at this time of year.

One for me this year was a recent visit from my sweet little two-year-old grandniece, Caroline.

She found a small chair that I use for gardening while walking through the garden with her dad.

This chair was actually my children's chair when they were her age.

The sweetest part was that she found the chair on her own and then proceeded to walk around the garden holding it like it was a friend.

Keep in mind, the chair was a significant carry for her!

She placed the chair in different spots throughout the garden and then would sit down and look around for a few minutes.

It seemed that once she had her fill of each spot, she would move on to a new one, and then another, making her way around the garden.

Finally, she brought her chair to where we were sitting on the patio and joined us.

Moments I will cherish, to be sure, and new memories made with this simple little chair that has been part of our family for so many years.

Caroline found her own place in the garden, taking time to savor the view from each new perspective. And eventually, she found her way to our table, too.

This week's video follows along with this theme of finding a seat at the table.

Our recent tour of the Homesteading Denver garden, with the creators of this garden, Heather and Terrance, was another wonderful reminder of what can happen when we make room to grow.

Their garden was overflowing with abundance, and what I loved most was seeing how much food they were growing to bring to their table, in addition to donating food to other tables as well.

While it may be too late to start growing outdoors here in Colorado right now, you can still claim your seat at the table by imagining what you might grow next spring.

And I must admit, I am a bit envious of Heather and Terrance’s tomatoes, which were absolutely delicious!

Where are you finding your seat at the table this week?

As you read this, I am in Chicago, having just stretched my wings a bit and stepped onto a stage with others who had a message to share.

Mine was all about Playing in the Dirt.

More to come on that adventure next week!

Until then, take the time to find your chair, settle in, and enjoy the view.

Plant often and with Love!

Cheri 💚
