To Grow or Not to Grow

What would change in your life if you had the discipline to see it through to fruition?  If you knew in fact that the path towards growth was a sure thing?

As your week begins and you look at the possibilities for growth both personally and professional that is in front of you, what aspect of what you see compels you create the action required? What allows growth and the change that it brings to actually happen?

I know this is a lot of questions to start your week. However, it’s the questions we ask ourselves and the subsequent answers that we then give and act on that makes all the difference on where we head each day.

Enough is Enough

Today marks that infamous money day most Americans dread – better known as tax day. Why is it that we put this date off so much? 1/3 of Americans don’t file until the very last minute… but why is that? You have to pay attention and honor the value of a dollar and what it can bring to you.

When a “paycheck” is not an automatic function that happens every two weeks – those of us in the world of small business ownership know that you simply have to work hard and believe to make the seemingly impossible, possible. Positive reminders are a must to keep your sanity in remembering enough is enough...

The Courage to Compliment

When was the last time you gave a sincere and heartfelt compliment?

What is your reaction when you get one?

Do you brush it off, making excuses why it may not be true?

Or do you soak it up like a warm ray of sunshine : )

This was the topic for conversation in this week’s Courage to be the Difference Podcast.  I had the great opportunity to interview New York Times Best Selling Author of the book, Picture Your Prosperity, Ellen Rogin.

A Street Named Overwhelm

Overwhelm comes in all shapes and sizes. Sooner or later it affects each of us.  This chaos occurs when the 24 hours in each day somehow gets out of balance between work, play, and rest.

It’s a term we seem to use a lot these days and deserves a deeper look to fully understand what it can mean. As with any emotion, if we look at it in the right perspective it can assist us towards finding our individual road to victory.

The Perfect Storm

One day last week in the early morning hours I awoke to send my daughter off to the airport.  My husband had graciously agreed to take her and we were all up at the ungodly hour to get her out the door by 4am.  Being an early riser, this was even a bit much for me.

As I dragged myself out of bed, my brain started clicking along at a very fast pace wondering how in the world I was going to get all that was on my plate done in the day ahead. Suddenly, I was grateful that I had a two-hour jump on the day.

Detaching From the Outcome

Yes it’s true! Spring has sprung and it’s officially time to start planting some seeds.

Have you every focused too much on the wrong thing and sure enough the exact opposite of what you wanted was like a magnet and found it’s way right to you?

Sometimes - especially when we have something we want badly and we want it this minute – we fearfully keep imagining through fear the exact opposite result. By doing this we can in fact push the desired object or happening far from our life.

The Spark for the Future

With this morning bringing an extra hour of light than it did last week (due to daylight savings time yesterday) it seems appropriate to talk about sparking things up a bit when the darkness - whether expected or unexpected - comes into our lives.

Since the inception of the Victory Letter many years ago, the number one goal of these writings has always been to celebrate our humanness. No matter the role we play in business, we are all human at our core.

Probably one of my greatest achievements that I am celebrating this week is my ability to create a human being. Talk about humanness! That came in the form of my son, Travis Ruskus, who has not only been an awesome son but has also in the past several years fully stepped into his purpose as a contemporary artist.

The Choice is Yours

Each and every day we have so many choices. From whether or not to brush our teeth to the much more demanding choices that can deeply effect our life and the lives of so many others, each moment is a choice.

The bottom line to a happy and successful life is based within those choices we make in the moment. We can swirl through the day making very few of our own choices and living in the “busy” zone just continuing to take on what just keeps coming at us.

As I have experienced this myself, living this way can unfortunately leave us feeling exhausted and unfulfilled.

That is where stepping out of our lives and looking at it from afar - such as taking a vacation - can make all the difference. After my trip to San Diego last week, I feel like I can now approach this week ahead with a calm and focused mind.

Getting Around To It

When it comes to honoring time, we all have one single component in common. It is the fact that we all are given the same amount of time in each day. We all get 24 hours, but how we use those precious hours makes all the difference.

Finding yourself saying “I don’t have time” usually leads to suspicion to whether it is that you don’t really have the time to complete the task, or perhaps if there is rather a complete lack of desire.

Game Changer

Nothing builds self-confidence quite like getting into the arena and fully playing the game.  Never has and probably never will.

Jumping into the game – especially of a small business - takes a good strong dash of self-confidence to even begin it.  Then, as you orchestrate and play out the needed dance steps to be taken – something inside you just grows and grows.

Probably one of my favorite past times is listening to stories of impassioned entrepreneurs and the steps they have taken along their way to make the idea and dream of creating a business a reality.
