Riding the Storm

You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated.

— Maya Angelou

Life doesn’t always go as planned, be it from the storms brought on by weather or other major tragedies we experience. The storms can leave us feeling extremely vulnerable, fearful, and highly discouraged. Every major storm has the ability to change us because of the turbulence the storm brings, actually recalibrating the essence of our spirit.

One thing that we can do is to take important action steps to change what is possible for us to change and as the saying goes the wisdom to know the difference.

In this week’s video I share a recent aphid infestation I experienced here in my indoor garden and what action I had to take in order to keep it from destroying my beloved plants. When we can take hold of the things that are in our power and do something about the destruction being caused, we can definitely ease the anxiety that the problem brought in the first place.

When we can take hold of the things that are in our power and do something about the destruction being caused, we can definitely ease the anxiety that the problem brought in the first place.

I heard someone say recently, “My mind is starting to feel like a pinata” and I think that is something we can all relate to with the news events of late, most especially over this past weekend. What makes it even worse is that we are being told not to believe what we are clearly seeing with our own eyes. To ignore the news cycle and move on.

While the humanitarian storm that is happening in our country right now will not be easy to resolve any time soon, we can find the ways we can move forward. To be sure it will not be easy, but we have been through worse. Perhaps not in our lifetime or that we have fully experienced before but perseverance, finding solutions, and letting our voices be heard will pull us through.

This is where our creative spirit can help us ride through the storm. For me it is getting my fingers in the dirt, and few other activities including writing letters to Congress and sharing my voice. Where do you find peace during storms?

We are all in this together. Let your creative spirit guide you this week remembering that creativity is about solving problems, not just pretty flowers.

Plant often and with Love!
