Remain Curious
I never understood the idea that you’re supposed to mellow as you get older. Slowing down isn’t something I relate to at all. The goal is to continue in good and bad, all of it.” — Diane Keaton
The good and bad, all of it… This morning as I write to you these lovely words from a women I have highly loved and admired over the years rings true. At an amazing speaking retreat I attended over the weekend I was asked who a person was that I have highly admired over the years, Diane's name came immediately to mind.
Perhaps it was because of her recent passing, yes, and, perhaps it was because of her brilliance that she shared with all of us. Her charm, her wit, her humor and her openness about her humanity. Both the good and the bad.
With that I first, want to share this week’s video from our recent visit to Canada that included going see the beauty and our first visit to the Butchart Gardens. To say this experience deeply inspired me is putting it mildly. I hope you enjoy from my vantage point.
And the good was that I was able to get the last harvest of tomatoes and marigolds that the frost didn't get to yet! 🤓
I want to also share that the first frost came in the early hours of Sunday morning while I was away at retreat. This annual passage left me to arrive home with half of my garden telling me it was done and ready to go to bed for the winter. As hard as it always is to look at the bad, the end of the gardening season, I have to remember the good of what has been, and what will be again.
To remain curious.
When we give up in defeat, we lose that element of curiosity of what might have happened if we had kept on going.
To remain curious.
When our nerves are at what seems like the last thread.
To remain curious.
When the world around us seems to be falling apart.
To remain curious.
When all goes great and we are wondering what steps will be next.
Remain curious.
The reason I love attending a variety of retreats is that these experiences with an intimate group of fellow like minded humans allows me to learn, to grow, and of course give me the tools to remain curious.
My wish for you in the week ahead is that your curiosity finds you inspired to take those steps towards elements in life you have been wanting to explore. You never know where you might end up. Yes, and, it keeps you with the burning desires to continue on in times of the good and the bad. Let’s Grow!
Plant often and with Love!
